We don't make the bags. We choose them.
Toteling is a small shop run out of Girona, Spain. The honest version of what we do is this: we look at an enormous number of tote bags so that you don't have to.
Four things a bag has to do before it gets on this site
It has to be big enough to actually use. A lot of totes photograph beautifully and hold a phone, a paperback and nothing else. We publish the measurements in centimetres, on every product, including the ones where the number isn't flattering.
It has to be light when it's empty. A bag that weighs 600 grams before you've put anything in it is a bag that stays on the hook by the door.
It has to work with a blazer and with a hoodie. No logos, no slogans, no print. If a bag needs a brand name across the front to be interesting, it isn't interesting.
It has to be honestly priced. Ours are between €20 and €30. We'd rather sell you a good €25 bag and call it a €25 bag than dress it up as something it isn't.
Three things we won't do
We won't invent reviews. When there are none yet, there are none. You'll know we've sold something when the reviews appear on their own.
We won't run fake countdowns. No "3 people are looking at this", no timer that resets when you reload the page. If something is on offer, it's on offer, and we'll tell you when it ends.
We won't describe a bag as something it isn't. If it's polyester, it says polyester. If it doesn't zip, we say so on the page instead of leaving you to find out on a Tuesday.
Why there's a blog full of women you've never met
Every tote leaves here identical, and none of them stay that way. The strap softens where a shoulder sits. Sand gets into a seam and never quite comes out. A year in, no two are alike, because no two lives are.
So we write about the lives. Stories is a series about women who carry a lot — the early alarms, the long commutes, the day off that took a whole summer to earn. One a month. None of them are really about a bag.
What we're building
Right now we choose bags. That's the honest description of a shop this young.
The plan is to make them. Once we know which two or three you actually keep carrying — not which ones sell in the first week, which ones are still on your shoulder a year later — we want to build our own, properly, with our name in it and nobody else's.
That takes time and it takes being right about the first part. So: this is year one.
The practical bits
We ship worldwide. Delivery times vary by country — they're on every product page, and we'd rather give you the real number than a hopeful one.
You have 14 days to change your mind, and you don't have to give a reason. Every bag carries a three-year legal guarantee.
